RJA Memorial Mighty Montauk Triathlon
Founded in 1982 by the late Robert J. Aaron. A beloved resident of Montauk, NY. Robert was know for his fearless enthusiasm for endurance activities; such as surfing, skiing, marathon, triathlons and fishing. This race was known for years as "The Mighty Montauk", and it was always considered the east end, season opener. It features a very scenic course through the beautiful hamlet of Montauk. The race consists of a 1 mile swim, 20 miles bike and 6.2 miles run. This fun event is USAT sanctioned.

ABOUT THE RACE
SWIM
The distance is 1 mile in the calm salt water of Lake Montauk. The course is out and back. Since this race is in the spring, wet suits are recommended (water temperature is normally around 55 degrees Fahrenheit during the spring season)
BIKE
The distance is 20 miles taking you along Montauk historical routes; giving you a bird's eye view of the famous Montauk Lighthouse. The course is out and back with some hills. Hardshell helmets (ANSE approved) and bar end plugs are mandatory. This race adheres to USAT policy of NO DRAFTING.
RUN
The distance is 6.2 miles through the scenic side of Montauk challenging hills. NO ELECTRONIC DEVICES ON THE COURSE (ex: ear pods, music players etc). No water stops on the bike course. However, water stops are at one mile intervals on the run course.
